"I am so excited to be a part of Kindergarten Ready!"
Carrie Denier is a former Kindergarten teacher with 5 years teaching experience in inclusion, gifted and developmental classroom settings. She also has a pending Masters in Teaching and Learning. She left teaching to be with her children and has found a wonderful balance of her passions.
Denier stated, "I am a mother first and a teacher second. And I have found the perfect balance for my passions; motherhood, teaching and children. The teacher in me knows the importance of social play; the parent in me did not want my child lost in a large group of children where he may just blend into the routines of the day. I wanted him to learn through play, exploration, hands on centers, and have the social interact of children his own age in a small group. I wanted someone to know him as an individual, celebrate each milestone with him and treat him like their own child. Finding the "perfect place" would include the warmth of a homeschool enviroment in a small group setting; but that seemed "impossible."
I originally contacted Krystal Spurlock, founder of Kindergarten Ready for our three year old son. My first meeting with Krystal and 6 children in her afternoon class is an event I will never forget. I was amazed at the group dynamics and overall sense of family displayed by her and the children. As a teacher, I saw concepts being masted through interactive play. As a parent,I felt like I had found the solution to the "impossible" and the "perfect place" for my own children.
There was no hesitation; I knew immediately, this was something I wanted my own children to be a part of and I as a teacher wanted to be a part of!"
What is Kindergarten Ready? A small group of session for children between the ages of 3 and 5. Individualized instruction in groups of six or fewer in the areas of language arts, math, science, social studies, Spanish, Sign Language, and cultural literacy. Developmental practices for enjoyment of learning; not traditional paper and pencil.
Parents know their children better than anyone. They are encouraged to be a part of the learning and a wonderful relationship is built through the communication of the parent and teacher.
Parents can enjoy meeting other parents and children through scheduled field trips, activities and get togethers!
Class size does matter...Ask any teacher. The sessions are limited to 6 children. (Imagine if that concept were implemented through out our schooling!) Once sessions are filled, names will be placed on a waiting list.
